CAP

The CAP standard is considered as the most exacting in the medical business and is a mandatory requirement as per federal rules in US. CAP follows a checklist for accreditation, and it is compulsory to participate in CAP survey (PT program) and provide satisfactory results.

CAP provides accreditation and proficiency testing to medical laboratories through its laboratory quality solution programs. It currently inspects and accredits medical laboratories under authority from the Centres for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It issues its own requirements building upon CLIA '88 regulations.
